![]() SunTrust Bank Supports TRCGreat appreciation goes out to all of the Sun Trust Banks who participated in a school supply drive for PWC students. What a great surprise to receive a phone call that Sun Trust Bank had collected 14 boxes of assorted school supplies including quite a few backpacks. This unexpected donation will be used to restock the shelves at the TRC over the next coming weeks. Some items have already been placed for distribution. The dedication and committment to our students is evident by the quality and diversity of the donations that were collected. Students in economic need will receive items as teachers visit the TRC each week.

However, after 35 years they have decided to retire the business. Pam Maples, a teacher assistant at Pattie Elementary School and her husband decided to gift a rather large donation of school and office supplies to the TRC. The items will be appearing over the next few weeks and months on the TRC shelves. They also included several display units that will be making their way over to the TRC. A huge thank you for their generosity!
![]() Teachers' Resource Center Adds New Stock! The Teachers' Resource Center was pleased to be contacted by Susan Canfield at Walmart on Potomac Mills Circle with a donation of new student pencil boxes. Wilma Cartwright an employee of Walmart graciously delivered them. The pencil boxes were almost as quickly selected by teachers as they were placed in stock at the TRC. Teachers were ecstatic to find these new items. Many have been trying to provide needed items for students in their classrooms who have not been able to purchase all of their classroom supplies. This donation is directly going into the hands of many happy students countywide!
![]() Homecoming Dance Donations Hit the Spot!Just to sing a few notes of praise....
A chorus of thank you's goes out to all of the parents and faculty who volunteered to make the evening extra special. Not only were many hours involved but also a great amount of hard work went into making the evening a success. Not to mention a collective hum of thanks is being said for the snacks and beverages donated by faculty and parents, alike. We also want to recognize our local business merchants who graciously donated treats and great eats! Chick-Fil-A provided a pan of delectable Brownies and Old Country Buffet tempted our tummies with a tray of Cookies. Qdoba Mexican Grill really added some spice and zest to our dancin' steps with fresh-made tortilla chips and a variety of mild, medium and x-tra hot salsa! Thank goodness, for the parent and teacher volunteers who kept the ice-cold lemonade and fruit punch coming, glass after glass! Target and Bloom! Both businesses will have a representative at Back to School Night from 6:30-9:00 p.m. with information on how you can register your shopping card to help GFHS earn education "bucks" toward the purchase of school/office supplies, musical instruments, equipment and so much more! Parents and teachers, take the time to stop by their respective tables tonight and find out how easy it is to "donate" to your school!
